Condors in Santa Barbara
In April 2009, the Santa Barbara Zoo welcomed four juvenile condors to a naturalistic 6,000 square foot space in the Zoo’s newest exhibit complex, California Trails. In March 2010, a young adult condor joined the Zoo's flock. The opening of Condor Country represents the culmination of many years of dedication and commitment to saving wildlife by many individuals and organizations alike. But the story isn't over yet - there is still much to do to help save these magnificent creatures - the largest soaring land birds in North America.
Please enjoy reading about the amazing recovery story of these magnificent birds, and their incredible past. We hope you are inspired by this true tale of how conservation can really work and will join us to help ensure that California condors soar into the future.
